John Ginn, Ph.D
Head of Medicinal Chemistry
John Ginn, Ph.D. is a medicinal chemist and the Head of Chemistry at Excelsior Sciences. In this role, he oversees innovation in building block design and the optimization of the company’s chemical processes.
Previously, John spent eight years as a Director of Medicinal Chemistry at the Sander’s Tri-Institutional Therapeutics Discovery Institute (Tri-TDI). There, he led numerous drug discovery projects, providing medicinal chemistry expertise to translate the foundational research of investigators across Weill-Cornell Medicine, Memorial-Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, and Rockefeller University.
Prior to Tri-TDI, John spent fifteen years at Boehringer-Ingelheim Pharmaceuticals. During this time, he contributed to and directed teams responsible for both early lead identification and late-stage optimization.
John earned his Ph.D. from Emory University.
